Hannah Jadagu’s describe album cover

you know what time it is!

spooky, entertaining, and deeply introspective – those are the exact words we’d use to describe october this year.

but when you really delve into some of the more recent music releases, you’ll find an amusing yet always reflective dynamic that’s simply inseparable from our favourite songs which dropped last month.

check ’em out below.

Hannah Jadagu — miracles

an absolute standout track on hannah jadagu’s sophomore album, describe. ‘miracles’ employs sparkly electric guitar melodies to beautifully set the stage for the american musician’s idyllic vocal performance – a winning formula for timeless bedroom pop.

flowerovlove — shady

british-ivorian popstar floverovlove dropped her catchy new single on the spookiest day of the year (now that’s what you call a halloween treat), and we’ve had it on repeat ever since. the singer’s candid approach to songwriting works well here, making ‘shady’ an irresistible earworm.

maisie peters — you you you

a maisie peters comeback was long overdue – and the surprise release of ‘you you you’, which arrived alongside the instrumentally folk-inspired ‘audrey hepburn’, is a marvellous return to form.

dexter in the newsagent — i told ya

dexter in the newsagent is one of london’s most exciting artists at the moment, and the always dynamic, genre-defying ‘i told ya’ testifies to that. the track’s texturally rich production is stacked, but never overdone – the 23-year-old singer’s voice cuts through with great precision.

ORMELLA take, take, take

london-based storyteller and multi-instrumentalist ormella isn’t a stranger to eerie sounds; her brand-new record, between the devil & the deep blue sea, features the kind of mythicality that pulls you in right off the bat – the project’s crown jewel ‘take, take, take’ is an excellent example of this.
